One of the nicest aspects of RVing is that you get to meet people from all walks of life. I am sure that every RVer appreciates this unique way to meet new people and make new friends.
This weekend was no exception. I got to meet a person that I have shared an RV yahoo group with for several years. His name is Stan from Maine. While I was in Maine this weekend, I saw a Navion/view with the logo of Acadia Vacations on the side. I waited a bit in the Cabella parking lot and soon Stan came out of the restaurant he was dining in with his wife and son. I found out he was heading to Connecticut and was driving right by my town on his way.
Later the same afternoon, I had the oppty to have dinner with RV writer Bob Zagami, whose blog, RV Insights is read on an international basis as well as Howard and Linda Payne who were featured speakers at the Boston RV Show last February. They are a fascinating couple who cashed in all of their worldly belongings and went FULL TIME into the RV lifestyle over five years ago. Read all about their daily travels on their website at RV-Dreams.
We had a great evening sharing stories about the RV lifestyle. Its a great way to spend the summer!
If you are heading to New England, a nice stop off is the Hampton Beach/Portsmouth, NH area. Just a few minutes off I 95 is the Portsmouth, NH Wal Mart that allows overnight parking (NOT camping) No jacks, no grills, no awnings deployed. Very convenient location. Enjoy!
Was RVing in New Hampshire and spotted a brochure for a dinner train. Found this place to be right off the interstate highway. Included some of the best food anywhere and certainly the best food ever on a tourist train. The owners even allow RVers to overnight in their lighted parking lot after their ride. We really enjoyed it and think you will to. ALLLLLLLLLLLL ABOARD!
On Wed, June 1, just a short time after tornadoes ripped Joplin, Mo apart, several tornadoes hit Massachusetts in the Central and Western parts of the state. One campground was specially hard hit and one of the RVers was killed during the storm. Her RV was lifted 30 feet into the air and when it landed on its roof, the refrig came loose and crushed one of the occupants. Here is the exact scenario as told by the campground owner.
The bad news is the campground is destroyed. The good news is that no one was injured here. Nearby an RVer was killed. This is in Brimfield, Massachusetts, near Sturbridge, in Central Massachusetts near the Connecticut state line. This tornado made its first hit in Westfield, MA, which is about 40 miles away. The devastation is amazing. Memorial Day weekend was just two days prior to this weather event, and the park was completely full. Here is the disturbing video....
For anyone traveling to New England this summer, one of the nicest rest areas you will find anywhere in the entire United States, is right in Brattleboro, Vermont, just north of the Massachusetts state line on I 91. It is on the northbound side of the highway.
This facility contains clean rest rooms, and tons of travel info and local history and points of interest. It is also staffed by knowledgable guides who give useful information.
IMPORTANT NOTE. This is not the area to get off the interstate and travel US 5. The local road has tons of hills, sharp turns and narrow sections. Stay ON the interstate to head to White River Jct and Burlington.
On this particular day, the local Girl Scouts were selling snacks in one of the covered picnic areas.
I recently had a chance to chat with highly respected RV technician Mike Camusso at RVs R Us in North Oxford, Massachusetts. I use them exclusively for all my RV repairs and routine service such as winterizing and De Winterizing. Here are some of the major tips he gave when prepping your RV for the season, which is just starting again in the Northeast.
Don Barone, writer for the BASS fishing tour, is in Branson, Mo. He is in the path of several tornadoes yesterday and today. Here is his tear jerking account of his night with fellow anglers who had family in a area getting hit by a tornado at this very moment. His minute by minute story will make you cry. Here it is......
With the harsh winter that has just passed, there was snow in areas of the USA that never get snow. Due to that, there were RVs that were subject to road salt and chemicals.
These salts and chemicals can eat away at the RV metal parts that are out of sight. Failure to clean the salt gives the chemicals the head start they need to start eating away at your RV.
Follow this simple, yet effective plan to rid your RV of harmful salt and chemicals.Special thanks to Mike and Mike of RVsRUs in North Oxford, MA.

Happy RVing!

Here is another site about the RV lifestyle that you will enjoy:
We had the occasion to take our Navion out of storage in the first week of April. It was such a great feeling to drive home, even though the unit was still winterized. COLD weather delayed our first journey one week. Then, we headed out to Maine, the next weekend, only to enounter temps in the mid 30s. Uggh.
We ended up staying in a Marriott that night! So, now it is April 23 and we still have not yet spent ONE NIGHT in our Navion.
I got to talk to an RV care specialist about attempting to remove snow from the roof of your RV. There are some very explicit warnings that Mike delivers. Save yourself a trip to the Emergency Room and listen to what he says. This winter, this message applies to much more of the USA than usual.
ESPN.com outdoors writer DON BARONE who spends over 100 days a year on the road covering the BASS fishing tour, discusses how he got into RVing and how it is growing rapidly within the professional anglers (fishing) community.
Here is an interesting piece on national writer, Don Barone and his sport....Fishing! They are inside a LANCE TRUCK CAMPER. So much space and really great words of wisdom from Don.

While at Arlington RV, shooting video for the Boston RV show, we got a chance to tour the very accommodating 2011 Winnebago Sightseer gas unit: Here it is. . .
Just got a tour of the brand new FLEETWOOD STORM Bunk House model. This is perfect for the family with young children. I was very impressed with the features and was amazed at the quality. If my kids were younger now, I would scoop one of these up and GO RVing immediately. Hope you enjoy!
With WINTER in full swing in New England, it is nice that there is a place like FLAGG RV that you can still shop for a great RV from several manufacturers like Itasca, Fleetwood, and Monaco, to name just a few.
I recently visited there with noted National RV journalist, Bob Zagami. This is one of their THREE locations. It is in North Smithfield, Rhode Island, just down the road from their store in Uxbridge, MA. Their first facility is located in West Boylston, Ma.
